The year 2020 marks 20 years of IAAC. To celebrate, we are offering scholarships for IAAC´s Master in City & Technology.

Course Details

The Master in City & Technology is oriented towards redefining the practice of urban planning & design through data science, computational design, and citizen design science. Taking place in Barcelona, the capital of urbanism, the program is training change makers that city administrations, governments, industries, and communities need, in order to develop projects for the transformation of the urban environment in the era of big data. The Master in City & Technology prepares the new professionals and urban technologists for the creation of applied visions and urban design solutions responding to the current environmental, economic and social challenges.

Competition Details

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia announces every year a Scholarship Competition giving our master’s applicants the chance to win partial scholarships covering 50%, 30%, 20% of the tuition fee of each IAAC’s academic programme.

Project brief:

“Data Urbanism” – To develop a strategy for urban planning and design based on the overlapping of different types of data, for a city of their choice.

In order to participate, candidates interested in the MaCT Scholarship Competition must:

  • Submit your project in pdf format, A3 format, 3 pages max (max 8MB)
  • Hold a first-level academic diploma or Bachelor degree, or about to graduate within the academic year 2020/21.
  • Have a full proficient level in English.
  • Having completed the IAAC application process in full

Start date: 20th January 2020 – 00:00 (CET)
End date: 7th February 2020 – 23:59 (CET)

The Selection Committee

The Jury will be integrated by master programme Directors, faculty and special guests and professionals coming from the different topics to be addressed by the 6 competitions.  

Winners Announcement

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia will release the name of the winners on its official website in February 2020.
