IAAC is pleased to announce that Margen-Lab’s installation “Ways of Wood: Expressing Material Flows” is the one of the recipients of the prestigious 2017 Wood Design Awards programme.

Margen-Lab is the firm founded by Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings’ Co-director Daniel Ibañez, with headquarters in Boston and Barcelona.

The project, which focuses on the life cycle of wood and was realised in occasion of the 2017 Boston Design Biennial, won the Special Jury Award – Public Art Education.

Located on the Kennedy Rose Greenway, the installation aims to create a link with North American landscapes of industrial extraction. Nine logs gradually transform across their length into contemporary interpretations of these raw natural materials.

The Wood Design Awards programme showcased this year exceptional wood buildings and served to inspire designers to push the boundaries of what they think is possible for wood in construction.
