The Valldaura Labs are currently being used as a testing bed for further research and development in the fields of self-sufficiency, Internet of Energy, Internet of Water and also Digital Fabrication. With this in mind, we’re pleased to introduce our latest project – Energrid.

ENERGRID:

The project aims to develop a distributed infrastructure for the energy management of buildings. The project is funded by Endesa and developed by IAAC in partnership with i2Cat Foundation. Energrid integrates as an ecosystem of wireless, intelligent plugs, sensors and energy generation systems on a single platform allowing us to create logistics which manage a buildings energy consumption, generation and storage.

Energrid Arch

Valldaura is the main laboratory where the Energrid project is being tested and will also become a showroom for the technology.

Each building’s energy consumption point is equipped with an intelligent node which is capable of measuring and actuating. The buildings are linked to an electrical network and they are able to produce, consume and store energy while sharing it with other buildings.
