Round Table, organised in the framework of the EU funded projects URBINAT (H2020) y BUILDs (ERASMUS+)

The round table event is part of the Architecture Week Barcelona 2021, promoted by the Barcelona City Council, the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, in collaboration with Barcelona Building Construmat and ArquinFAD. The discussion will focus on the Green transition of cities through the innovation and implementation of Nature Based Solutions, as a means to provide cities with multiple ecosystem services towards passive and performative urban environments. The event is set in the framework of the European Green Deal and more specifically set in the context of two European Research projects: Urbinat, Urban Innovative & Inclusive Nature (H2020); and BUILDs, Building Urban Intelligent Living Design Solutions (ERASMUS+).

The discussion includes speakers from a diversity of professional backgrounds including architects, urbanists, landscape architects and resource economists, in order to facilitate the audience with a comprehensive understanding of the importance and benefits of introducing Nature Based Solutions into urban environments.

The speakers are: Chiara Farinea, IAAC Advanced Architecture Group Head of EU projects; Gonçalo Canto Moniz, Urbinat Project Coordinator, Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra; Gonzalo Delacámara, Principal Investigator and Coordinator of the Department of Water Economy in the Instituto IMDEA Agua; Katia Perini, Researcher in Architectural Technology, University of Genoa; Nanna Maj Stubbe Østergaard, Landscape Architect MDL at SLA Copenhagen; Martin A. Petersen, Senior Research Analyst at City Facilitators; Maria Pia Fontana, Principal at Mayorga+Fontana, consultant for BIT-Habitat; moderated by Mathilde Marengo, IAAC Head of Studies.
