A Bioblitz is an event where volunteer citizens and scientists come together to study the biodiversity of a specific area within a short period. Next November 24th and 25th, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and Valldaura Labs are proud to join forces with the Consortium of the Natural Park of Serra de Collserola and the Horta-Guinardó District to organize the Bioblitz Collserola 2023 event providing the opportunity to explore and discover more about Collserola environment.

The event will be in Catalan.

Participants will identify the species present in the Font del Gos area, along with expert biologists specializing in specific groups of flora and fauna. Participants will also have the chance to learn firsthand about scientific sampling techniques, the characteristics of biological groups, and how to identify the organisms found during their itinerary.

The objectives of this event are to increase scientific knowledge about the evolution of the metropolitan forest of Barcelona and promote scientific education, citizen science, and the dissemination of research related to forests and biodiversity. The aim is also to raise awareness about the biodiversity that inhabits forests, specifically in the Serra de Collserola, and emphasize the importance of their conservation for the health of our planet.

The scientific itineraries will last two hours each and will cover different groups of flora and fauna.

Friday, November 24th, will be exclusive for schools in Barcelona.

Saturday, November 25th, from 10:00 to 14:00, there will be open itineraries for the public where you will learn first-hand field study techniques of biodiversity.

Choose the groups that interest you the most: birds, vegetation, lichens and fungi, insects, butterflies, camera trapping, and mammals.
