The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in collaboration with the Confederation of Architectural Workshops, will take part to the #Superillapilot project.
The #Superilla (Super-block) project claims the occupation of the public space by the people, to subvert the leading role that cars have had over the last 50 years. The project is part of the new Plan of Public Space and Mobility of District of Sant Martí, promoted and approved by the City of Barcelona.
The Horizontal Action was born in the framework of the #Superilla project, with the aim of studying new forms of public space occupation. Starting on September 5th, different groups of students will design and produce items from recycled materials, to encourage citizens to exercise their recovered rights in the public space.
To carry out the action, students will have the collaboration of the Fab City of Poble Nou network, coordinated by IAAC, which will provide a focus on local production and digital manufacturing and circulate from recycled materials.
With the transformation of mobility, the urban transformation of Barcelona takes place. Pedestrians become citizens thanks to the recovery of its four fundamental rights: participation, culture, leisure and exchange.
The Horizontal Action will take place in the superblock comprised between carrer Tanger, Badajoz, Pallars and Llacuna, from the 5th to the 22nd of September involving Atta33, Transfolab, Nodo Design and Fab Lab Barcelona workshops among other.
Within this event the Active Public Space Barcelona Workshop will also take place, focusing on the principles, implications and applications of ICTs for urban space.
