Sochi has always been considered Russia’s principal resort throughout the country’s modern history. The 2014 Winter Olympics, held in Sochi, gave a new impulse to the development of the city. IAAC Co-founder Vicente Guallart has been chairing the jury for the International Competition to Design a Masterplan for the post Olympic development of the city of “Sochi Imeretinka 2.0″.
The finalists of the International Competition first stage were selected from 16 project teams that passed by relevance of professional experience and competencies to the long list of the total number of participants. The main aim of the international competition is to achieve high-quality urban and socio-economic impacts of the post-Olympic development of the Imeretinsky as an all-season resort and living area. The outcome of the competition is the creation of a master-plan with a phased development of the territory and a defined architectural appearance of buildings of the project’s first phase “Imeretinka 2.0 project”.
