Carmen is an Interaction and Experience Design Engineer from San Francisco. Carmen holds a B.S. in Civil/ Structural Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago as well as a Masters in Interaction Design from IaaC in Barcelona. In 2014 Carmen started Hyphen-Labs with Ece Tankal, merging teaching, digital fabrication, physical computing, robotics, digital tooling, and documentation. As Co-Captain she bridges creativity and technology to create environments and tools for interactive engagement. Carmen specializes in developing projects from the digital platform to physical installation and enjoys finding creative solutions complex problems. Close collaboration with specialists: engineers, architects, artists, and innovators in a creative capacity allows her to implement the digital, robotic, physical, and design worlds in order to augment the human experience. She enjoys documentation too and has even won Best Experimental Film at the San Francisco Frozen Film Fest in 2015.
