Arian Hakimi is an Iranian architect, researcher and educator. Studying his B.arch at University of Tehran with his thesis focus on “Lost Arts of Persia”. He completed his Master in Advanced Architecture (MAA02) degree at IAAC in 2012, with a final thesis in Urban Design & Smart Solar Houses utilising computational morphogenesis design methodology.
Upon graduation, he started working at ON-A and his initiated with research-teaching program side by side. He has conducted over 15 international workshops collaborating with architects, fashion designers, and engineers. Including intern program in ZHA summer 2015 and later exhibition at the extraordinary process, the late architect Zaha Hadid’s Final Show.
Since 2013 he has been working at Zaha Hadid office in London as senior designer and has been involved in several high profile projects in various stages from competition to construction design, including KAFD, an-award winning Metro Station in King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, where he conducts practical researches in the fields of parametric design & complex geometry rationalisation and optimisation. In particular, he has developed algorithms for generating façade components on a non-constant curvature surfaces and cost-optimised paneling for structure cladding.
He has lectured on the field of computational design and component base design system and parametric form finding in digital workflow, and he was one of the 10 speakers of the IAAC Alumni Meeting 2019.
