MAA & MaCT SECOND TERM FINAL PRESENTATIONS + MAA THESIS FINAL PRESENTATIONS

The Second Term Final Presentations for the Master in Advanced Architecture (MAA) will be taking place this week in IaaC. Each Research Studio will present to a selected international jury on the following dates:

Advanced Interaction // Tutored by: Carlos Gomez.
March 14th, 11.00 to 14.00
@IaaC Room 3.01

The group of Advanced Interaction explores creative uses of technology for experimental and practical purposes. The learn-by-doing research developed in the Advanced Interaction line integrates methods used in design, programming and social sciences to produce projects, prototypes and products that will define the outer limits of what is possible to do imaginatively with technology today.

Self Sufficient Building // Tutored by: Enric Ruiz Geli, Mireia Luzárraga.
March 15th, 12.00 to 15.00
@IaaC Room 4.01

The Self-Sufficient building research line works on scales that range from urban blocks to individual buildings developing principals and techniques for homes, that serve to organize the materialization of programmatic nodes of activity based on natural rules and principles. As a result the building goes beyond being a mere interface for economic activities, becoming an environment that stimulates its inhabitants and functions as an active part of the ecosystem in which it is inserted.

Digital Matter // Tutored by: Areti Markopoulou; Computational Expert: Angelos Chronis; Fabrication Expert: Alexandre Dubor
March 16th, 11.00 to 19.00
@IaaC Room 3.01

The Digital Matter research line wishes to explore how Intelligent Construction goes beyond assigning material properties into rigid construction components. The group works with digital content, information and fabrication for the generation of new techniques generating the production of non-rigid, responsive and multi-functional material and construction systems.

Intelligent Cities // Tutored by: Willy Müller; Assistant: Jordi Vivaldi.
March 17th, 10.00 to 16.00
@IaaC Room 3.01

Intelligent Cities works beyond the conventional scales of territorial design, town planning, building or fabrication in designing a multi-scale habitat. As in the design of ecosystems, each level has its own rules of interaction and relation, and at the same time must comply with certain parameters that pertain to the system as a whole. The Studio focuses on projects that range in scale from the territory to the neighborhood.

Design With Nature // Tutored by: Javer Peña; Rodrigo Rubio; Assistant: Oriol Carrasco.
March 18th, 15.00 to 19.00
@IaaC Room 3.01

The Design with Nature research line is based on the principle of learning-by-doing, centering its studies in the sustainable habitat, approaching four central aspects: food production, energy production, object production and social interaction. The studio uses the Valldaura Labs campus and its three laboratories combining knowledge that connects us to nature with the use of advanced technology.

March 18th will be the turn of the Second Term Presentations by the Master in City & Technology (MaCT) students:

FabCity Design Strategy // Tutored by: Tomas Diez, Mathilde Marengo.
March 18th, 10.00 to 14.30
@IaaC Room 3.01
Live Streaming on YouTube

The Studio, part of the new Master in City & Technology, works on the development of small-scale design interventions working as the basis towards the implementation of urban strategies. The students have been working on a common urban analysis and vision, as well as each then developing their own prototype proposal.

Students from the Master in Advanced Architecture Thesis (MAA Thesis) went through their Final Presentations last Friday, March 11th.
