The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is proud to present MIRALLS DEL DEMÀ (Mirrors of Tomorrow) at this year’s LLUM BCN Festival. From the 7th to the 9th February, Barcelona will host the 14th edition of LLUM BCN, organised by Barcelona City Council, transforming urban spaces into a stage for artistic exploration and showcasing the limitless creative potential of light.
Is climate change a natural challenge or a direct consequence of human action? This question resonates at the heart of Parc Central del Poblenou, where IAAC invites you to explore MIRALLS DEL DEMÀ, an installation that turns visitors’ voices into vivid visions of possible futures.
Standing before a monumental curved LED panel, visitors are invited to share their thoughts and ideas about the future using a strategically placed microphone. Their words, processed by artificial intelligence, are transformed into stunning visual projections that illuminate the space with unique interpretations of tomorrow.
The installation MIRALLS DEL DEMÀ, developed during the Interaction and Prototyping Seminar for second-year students of the Master in Advanced Architecture (MAA) and the Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction (MRAC), goes beyond interaction with technology, acting as a mirror of our collective fears and hopes. Each projection not only serves as a powerful reminder of the climate emergency’s urgency but also transforms individual reflections into an immersive experience that confronts us with our shared responsibility for the planet’s future.
By combining proximity sensors, microphones, and AI-driven projections, MIRALLS DEL DEMÀ addresses critical issues such as rising CO₂ emissions, the proliferation of plastics in our oceans, and the rapid urbanisation reshaping our landscapes. The installation denounces the consequences of inaction while inspiring collective responsibility to create a sustainable future.
We invite you to experience MIRALLS DEL DEMÀ at LLUM BCN 2025, from 7th to 9th of February, at Els Nius i Pous del Cel, Central Park Poblenou, and discover how technology and architecture can turn individual voices into a collective call to action.
The installation has been made possible thanks to the contribution of MD Servicios Audiovisuales.
