The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) announces a new leadership to continue its path towards innovation in architecture, urbanism, ecology, and technology. Following the departure of the current president and vice president, Ana Vallés and Andreu Mas Colell, IAAC welcomes the new president of the board, Juan Velayos, and vice president, Marta Lacambra, who will bring their extensive experience and strategic vision to the institute.
The ceremony took place during the meeting of the IAAC Foundation’s Board of Trustees at the PLANTA project of Sorigué, where the outgoing president, Ana Vallés, warmly invited the Institute’s Board of Directors, as well as all the board of trustees members and the secretary, to celebrate this important milestone in IAAC’s history.
Juan Velayos, renowned in the real estate sector and in business development, brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to industrialized and sustainable construction in wood. In his new role as president of the board, he will seek to strengthen IAAC’s connection with the business community to consolidate one of IAAC’s three key pillars, in addition to education and research: innovation and development projects with industry.
On the other hand, Marta Lacambra Puig, with a solid background in Economics and a distinguished career in both public and private management, will bring a valuable multidisciplinary perspective to IAAC. Currently, Lacambra holds the position of general manager of the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera.
IAAC director, Daniel Ibañez, highlighted the relevance of their experience, strategic vision, and the complementarity of Velayos and Lacambra’s profiles for the future of the Institute. Furthermore, the Institute celebrates the addition of influential leaders to its board of trustees, such as Guim Costa, Isabel Martínez-Cosentino, Mar Galtés, Mateu Hernández, and José Aguirre, who will strengthen IAAC’s ability to face future challenges and promote innovation in architecture.
