In the face of ever-growing and complex planetary challenges, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is proud to present its end-of-year exhibition for 2023. The exhibition, titled “Thriving Together in Future Cities,” pushes us to reflect on the design processes, built forms and novel experiences to thrive together in future cities. What are the potentials for advanced technologies, such as digital manufacturing and computational design combined with biology, sociology, data science, fashion and environmental sciences, among others, in enabling design to shape this future?

The projects showcased in the exhibition will delve into innovative proposals and designs for more inclusive, resilient and positive futures, within the realms of communities, spaces and the ecology. “Thriving Together” invites visitors to not only collectively reflect on our goals towards this future, but also how we can shape these through co-design processes with multiple others, including human, non-human, cultural and technological beings.
From advanced architecture and computation, to ecological buildings, from urban technologies and innovative urbanism, to emergent futures, from digital fashion to machines that make, from robotics in construction to distributing design, join us in celebrating the achievements of IAAC’s classes of 2022/23 and 2021/23.
The “Thriving Together in Future Cities” exhibition will run from June 30th to September 8th at the IAAC Atelier, located at C/ Pujades 59. IAAC is delighted to invite visitors to the Exhibition Opening and IAAC Educational Programmes Excellence Award Ceremony on June 30th at 18:00 in the IAAC Atelier. The ceremony and opening will be followed by some beats and some beers, so stick around!
