Richard Schulman, a renowned architectural and portrait photographer, has traveled extensively around the world since the 1980s to capture extraordinary works of architecture and design, as well as portraits of prominent cultural figures such as artists, architects, and literary personalities. His impressive body of work has been featured in numerous national and international publications including Domus, Abitare, Smithsonian, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, London Times, El Pais, Metropolis, Paris Match, and Stern.
Schulman has particularly focused on capturing portraits of architects, as well as their buildings and designs, and has photographed many notable figures in the field such as Philip Johnson, Oscar Niemeyer, Tadao Ando, Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Bjarke Ingles, Diller & Scofidio, Jean Nouvel, and Toyo Ito, among other leading international architects.

Richard Schulman will present a lecture on the genesis of his agenda in architectural photography. Through his dialogue with architects ranging from Adjaye to Zumthor, Schulman has built an impressive portfolio of unique architectural masterpieces and designs. In this presentation, Schulman will share his insights and experiences from his architect portrait sessions and how he has applied those conversations towards a better way of seeing architecture. His visual presentation will showcase a dizzying array of visual moments that have shaped his career, providing a unique perspective on the world of architecture.
