Since Friday 13th March 2020 all the classes and academic activities of IAAC are taking place on-line, and no classes have been canceled. In person teaching will resume directly, once the International and Spanish National Authorities declare the end of the State of Emergency, and will establish the opening of Universities and Research centers.

The Academic Programs are planned to start as usual in September and October 2020 (see specific start dates for each program on the program page).

In the unlikely case that the State of Alert is prolonged to the start of Autumn, or students can not reach Barcelona due to State of Alert in their home country, IAAC will facilitate a hybrid learning approach, where by classes can be attended both on-campus and online, allowing students to follow the beginning of the courses whatever their situation be, while offering all practical and laboratory work within the facilities, in an on-campus format.

In the unfortunate and unexpected case that, due to Covid-19 effects a new State of Alert is declared, and, therefore, constituting an interruption in the in-person academic activities of the Academic Program 2020-21, students will be given the possibility to:

• continue their studies on-line during the State of Emergency until in-person teaching is resumed. The Institute will adapt its teaching methodologies to accommodate online learning formats, offering support to all international students in order to facilitate their attendance and not compromise their learning activity.
• interrupt their studies and defer them in order to complete their master program in the following academic year. 

Please note, for MAEBB students residing in Valldaura Labs, in the case of any State of Alert or Emergency, the courses will be transferred to on-line learning formats, as mentioned above, however the in-person living activities will continue active.

If a student is not able to attend any academic program offered by IAAC due to the Covid-19 (for reasons such as prohibition of travel to Spain from their country, or visa denial or similar issues), the tuition fee can be refunded in the case the student can deliver appropriate official certification that testifies to this cause.

The student will also be given the option to defer to the following academic year, securing their place in the master program, and fees of the year they enrolled in.
