Alicia Nahmad is an architect who explores design through the integration of materials and technology in relation to context-specific environments. Her professional and research work has focused on exploring the relationship between design, architecture, technology and fabrication by implementing computational and fabrication techniques on large scale design projects and architectural installations.

She is currently a PhD research fellow at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University where she explores human-robot collaborative design processes by looking at the synergies between designers, materials and digital design and fabrication methods. Her research focus includes the mediation between digital design technologies and traditional material crafts.

Alicia is also a course tutor at the Architectural Association Design Research Laboratory Master’s programme where she co-directs Nahmad-Bhooshan studio which focuses on exploring the future of housing at the intersection of social dynamics, architectural systems and novel fabrication techniques.
