On 19th and 20th January, the EU initiative KAAU (Knowledge Alliance for Advanced Urbanism), which is co-funded by Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, is organising the 2018 edition of the Metropoles du Sud symposium in Montpellier, France.
KAAU team works for the sensitive integration of ICT in cities, taking in consideration cultural heritage, environmental and social dimension issues. This project aims to promote an innovative understanding of “Advanced Urbanism” that requires changing traditional design and urban planning practices towards more open, collaborative and interdisciplinary practices. The most representative and prestigious voices in the field of architecture, urbanism and responsive cities participate in Metropoles du Sud symposium 2018.
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, as a main partner and coordinator of the European project KAAU, will join the sum-up and conclusion sessions on Advanced Urbanism and panel discussions on Responsive Cities with academic representatives Mathilde Marengo, Head of Studies and Chiara Farinea, Head of European Projects at IAAC.
The notion of “Advanced Urbanism” will be discussed the 19th at ENSAM, l’Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Montpellier, and on the 20th at the city’s Musée Fabré from the starting topics that revolve around the concepts of the Responsive city, Event city and Sensitive city. The main speakers lineup is composed of KAAU partners such as IAAC, ENSAM, Santa & Cole, Urban Next, MCrit, Univeristá Degli Studi di Genova, Intelligent Atlas, Darts and Useful Simple Projects.
