IAAC organises the Responsive Cities Symposium, which brings together international experts to discuss the future of our cities and their public space. The symposium will be held on 13th and 14th November at Caixa Fòrum in Barcelona and at Smart City Expo in Fira Barcelona, respectively.
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is organising the second edition of the Responsive Cities Symposium 2017 / Active Public Spaces, an international conference on the future of cities, that brings together in Barcelona experts from around the world in the field of urban planning, architecture, design and technology. The event, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, will be held on the 13th and the 14th of November with the support of Caixa Fòrum and Smart City Expo.
The symposium investigates the applications and implications of new technologies in the dynamic sphere of public spaces. It focuses on the advancements of technologies of information, interaction and fabrication in the redefinition of public space, as catalyst for achieving urban resilience and high quality of life.
The previous edition of the Responsive Cities Symposium 2016 – Urbanism in the Experience Age – brought together more than 500 international participants such as Saskia Sassen, Janet Sanz, Martina Hallikainen and others, becoming a great success as a reference forum for Barcelona in the field of cities.
Speakers at this year’s edition include Crimson Rose, Helle Søholt, Gala Pin, Nataly Gattegno, Mark Burry, Pontus Westerberg, Usman Haque, Claudia Pasquero, Luis Falcon, Alexei Novikov and Enric Batlle among others.
