The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia is glad to announce that Petra Garajová and Annah-Ololade Sangosanya, Alumni of the Postgraduate of Fabricademy in Barcelona, have been awarded by Lenzing with the “Young Scientist Award” for their Fabricademy final research projects on ethical and sustainable fashion.
Petra Garajová developed a material research on using wool waste for extracting keratin and creating new bio-materials and won the award of the most innovative use of biobased fibers. Here you can watch her project video:
Annah-Ololade Sangosanya developed a bio-remediation technique of using mycelium to decompose textile fiber waste and create new bio-leather composites and won the award of textile recycling, from feedstock to fiber. Here you can find her project video:
The two Alumni of the Postgraduate of Fabricademy got awarded with the “Young Scientist Award” by Lenzing, an international company that produces wood-based viscose fibers, modal fibers, lyocell fibers and filament yarn, which are used in the textile industry as well as in the nonwovens industry.
Fabricademy is a program at the intersection of digital fabrication, textiles and biology. It explores the interrelation of human-technology-environment through the notions of embodiment, materiality, ecodesign, biodesign, performance, smart textiles, and digital fabrication. Discover more here!
