IAAC and WASP Launch the 2026 Architectural 3D Printing Summer Camp at Valldaura Labs
Applications are now open for the 2026 Architectural 3D Printing Summer Camp, a collaborative 5-week research intensive by IAAC and WASP.
Hosted at Valldaura Labs in the Collserola National Park from August 24 to September 25, 2026, the program offers a hands-on exploration of low-carbon, earthen construction through large-scale digital fabrication.
A Material-First Approach to Fabrication
The 2026 curriculum moves past standard digital modelling to confront the physical variables of large-scale extrusion. Key areas of investigation include:
- Materiality: Formulating, mixing, and optimising local soil components for optimal continuous printing.
- Machine Operation: Setting up, calibrating, and executing complex toolpaths using multi-axis architectural printers.
- Optimised Workflows: Implementing building cycles where structural prototypes can be recycled back into the local landscape
About the project
The project relies on diverse skill sets, from architects and builders to engineers and researchers, working collaboratively to operate the full-scale Crane-WASP systems on site.
