R+D Manager for the Robotics Lab at IAAC.

In this role you will have the opportunities to manage the research and development activities of the Robotics lab at IAAC. This involves on one side the management of existing projects together with our talented team of international experts, and on the other side the development of new projects with our extended network of partners. As the Robotics Lab has been steadily growing for the past years, the aim for the position in the long term is to consolidate the portfolio of research activities and services we offer, while expanding our network to get new projects.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Project management of research and development projects : including keeping contacts with the partners, contributing to research activities, coordinating in-house expert contribution, developing interim and final project reports, organization of project events, and publications of results (Web, Social media, Journals), 
  • Proposals writing for grant applications and industrial projects :  including developing proposals with new contact, review state of the art research on this topic, articulate a work plan with in-house experts and synthesise the contribution from all partners.
  • Strategic partnership development :  including developing a communication strategy, curating existing content (from academic, research and development projects), and managing its publication and follow up with possible partner contacts.

Skills required :

  • Willing to learn, motivated, enthusiastic and social. 
  • Autonomous, able to take on responsibilities and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Confident in project management & proposal writing. 
  • Familiarity with EU & Spanish grants
  • Knowledgeable in architecture & technology. 
  • Previous experience in academia & industry (more than 3 year)

 

Optional skills :

  • Familiarity with technologies such Robotics, Digital Fabrication, Craftsmanship, Computational Design and Software Engineering.
  • Familiarity with construction projects at all scales, from product to architecture.
  • Travel enthusiast (in Europe or in the world). 

 

Position benefits

  • Permanent contract
  • Full-time position (40 h week, from Monday to Friday) in Barcelona.
  • Salary: 27,000.00 –35,000.00 € per annum, according to experience.
  • Location : IAAC, Carrer Pujades 102, 08005 Barcelona, SPAIN

The Robotics Lab is a research group that investigates robotics and digital technologies for a sustainable architecture and construction industry. We work at the intersection of academic research and industrial collaboration to develop state-of-the-art solutions addressing the current challenges of the construction industry in sustainability, productivity, and craftsmanship. We operate within a multidisciplinary team, positioned at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and materials, creating new opportunities for radical innovations.

📌 ¿Quiénes somos?

Mass Madera – Built by Nature Spain es la red española de Built by Nature, una iniciativa paneuropea que acelera el uso de la madera y los materiales biobasados en la construcción. Conectamos promotores, arquitectos, inversores, constructores y responsables políticos para escalar soluciones constructivas de bajo carbono.

🧩 ¿Cuál será tu rol?

Como Network Lead, serás la persona responsable de hacer crecer y dinamizar la red española de edificación en madera y materiales biobasados, contribuyendo activamente a la estrategia local y europea de transición del sector.

🔹 Activación de la red y eventos
Organizarás encuentros, mesas redondas, foros y eventos estratégicos para involucrar a Frontrunners, Grantees y otros actores clave del ecosistema.

🔹 Gestión de stakeholders
Identificarás, incorporarás y mantendrás relaciones con promotores, diseñadores, inversores, administraciones públicas y otros agentes relevantes.

🔹 Estrategia y análisis
Desarrollarás la estrategia anual de la red en España, monitorizando tendencias, retos, oportunidades y casos de éxito del sector.

🔹 Colaboración europea
Trabajarás de forma coordinada con otros Network Leads europeos de Built by Nature y con los equipos del IAAC.

🔹 Apoyo a proyectos innovadores
Contribuirás a la identificación y curaduría de subvenciones y proyectos innovadores (1–2 proyectos/año) para escalar soluciones en construcción sostenible.

🔹 Difusión y policy engagement
Participarás en eventos externos, acciones de transferencia de conocimiento y diálogos con responsables políticos vinculados a la transición hacia la construcción en madera.

🎯 ¿Qué buscamos?

  • Experiencia en construcción en madera, materiales biobasados o sector de la construcción
  • Gran capacidad de networking, comunicación y gestión de stakeholders
  • Perfil estratégico, pragmático y con facilidad para simplificar temas técnicos, legales o normativos
  • Capacidad para trabajar con múltiples actores y en contextos complejos
  • Espíritu colaborativo y proactivo

🎓 Requisitos

  • Formación en arquitectura, urbanismo, ciencias sociales, investigación climática, políticas públicas o campos afines
  • 2–5 años de experiencia en roles de coordinación multi-actor
  • Nivel fluido de español e inglés
  • Se valorará experiencia previa en ONGs, think tanks o consorcios internacionales
