The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) invites you to Re/Thinking Urban Elements, an event dedicated to all the actors involved in the design, production and use of innovative urban furniture: urban furniture companies, companies that are dedicated to innovation in materials and 3D manufacturing, architectural firms and urbanism, neighborhood groups, institutions and research centers, entities and associations related to urban space. The event is part of the R.ES.P.I.R.A. project, financed by Ciutat Proactiva, a call for urban innovation projects launched by the BIT Habitat Barcelona Foundation.

The objective of the R.ES.P.I.R.A. is to co-design urban furniture elements with users to respond to the new challenges that arise in public space: air pollution, new pedestrian spaces and Superillas, post-pandemic and teleworking requirements, inclusiveness and gender perspective, heat waves and climate refuges.

The urban elements co-designed with the neighborhood groups will be printed in 3D with Pure.Tech, a material that absorbs and neutralizes CO2, NOx and VOC compounds, improving air quality.

R.ES.P.I.R.A. is a project developed by IAAC,Noumena, the Poblenou Neighborhood Association, and the Platform of Roquetes Entities.

The Urban Elements R.ES.P.I.R.A. Event will begin with a presentation of the R.ES.P.I.R.A. design, the catalog of co-designed, 3d-printed and decarbonizing street furniture.

Next, the innovative projects of different urban furniture producers will be presented. In the third and last phase of the event there will be a tematic table to open the debate on the projects presented.
