Master in Mass Timber Design (MMTD) Scholarship
The Softwood Lumber Board will support two $5,000 scholarships (50% tuition) for students living and working within the United States to participate in the second edition of the Online MMTD from October 2022 to July 2023.
Ideal Candidates:
Recent graduates of architecture, design or any discipline related to mass timber design or young professionals willing to transition to mass timber.
Application Details:
To qualify, candidates interested in the scholarship must:
- Hold a first-level academic diploma or Bachelors degree, or will graduate with one at the end of the 2022-23 academic year.
- Complete the IAAC application in full.
The Selection Process:
Students will be evaluated and selected by an academic committee composed of the MMTD program director, faculty and special guests and other mass timber professionals.
Academic committee members will evaluate the portfolios submitted by the students, taking into consideration the following aspects:
- Interest in mass timber design and construction
- Interest in new technologies in architecture
- Interest in an ecological approach to architecture
- Level of motivation presented by the student
- Design skills
Students receiving the highest evaluation will advance to the second step of the evaluation process, based on an interview via video conference with members of the academic committee.
Selected candidates will have to accept and enroll in the program signing an agreement before July 30, 2022.

The Master in Mass Timber Design – (MMTD) is a 10-month online education program imparting the next generation of architects, designers and engineers with the skills to design, develop and build mass timber buildings.
The Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) is an industry-funded initiative established to promote the benefits and uses of softwood lumber products in outdoor, residential, and non-residential construction.
