IAAC Hosts Public Talk at the Exhibition Opening

On 26 June 2026, IAAC – Advanced Architecture Barcelona hosted a public talk at ITNIG Spaces to mark the opening of Internalities: Architectures for Territorial Equilibrium — an exhibition that represented Spain at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2025, now on view at MUHBA Oliva Artés in Barcelona until 13 September 2026.

What if Architecture Worked the Way Nature Does?

Curated by Roi Salgueiro and Manuel Bouzas, Internalities starts from a simple question: nature produces no waste — so what would happen if architecture worked the same way? The project reads the Iberian Peninsula as a productive ecosystem and explores low-carbon, regenerative materials as a path towards decarbonising the built environment.

Daniel Ibáñez, Director of IAAC, leads the exhibition’s materials research, examining how industrialised timber construction can reduce architecture’s environmental impact by strengthening regional material ecosystems and reconnecting construction with local resources.

The Talk: Presentations, Case Studies and Round Table

The talk opened with presentations by Daniel Ibáñez and the curators, followed by a series of invited case studies from leading practices: Harquitectes, Josep Ferrando, TAKK, Emiliano López and Mónica Rivera, and Anna & Eugeni Bach.

The session closed with a round table and Q&A featuring Albert Cuchí, Olga Subirós, Daniel Ibáñez, Roi Salgueiro and Manuel Bouzas — and a closing cocktail to mark the occasion.
