IAAC and FBA Launch a New Research Scholarship at MIT for Spanish Graduates
IAAC and Fundación Bosch Aymerich (FBA) have launched the Bosch Aymerich International Scholarship Programme – a fully funded research scholarship open to Spanish graduates who want to conduct advanced research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Applications are open until May 31, 2026.
What is the FBA & IAAC Scholarship Programme?
The FBA IAAC MIT Scholarship is a research programme that connects Spanish graduates with MIT faculty working at the frontier of architecture, urbanism, and urban technology. Designed and coordinated by IAAC, and made possible through the support of Fundación Bosch Aymerich, it represents a new research bridge between Barcelona and Boston.
The legacy behind the FBA MIT Scholarship
The programme carries the legacy of Dr. Josep María Bosch Aymerich — the first Spaniard to graduate from MIT, where he studied alongside Aalto, Le Corbusier, and Gropius. Fundación Bosch Aymerich makes possible today what its founder pioneered then.
Selected scholars spend six months conducting research at MIT under the mentorship of Spanish MIT faculty, followed by a six-month professional integration phase at IAAC in Barcelona through an employment contract. The scholarship covers all expenses during the Boston residency.
Who can apply for the FBA IAAC MIT Scholarship
Candidates must hold Spanish nationality, have completed a degree between 2010 and 2025, and demonstrate an advanced level of English, among other requirements detailed in the official call.
