Ricardo Valbuena is a Product Designer and Digital Fabrication Expert from Mexico City. He is currently the manager of P59 Atelier, the primary fabrication laboratory of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. He graduated from Anahuac University in Mexico with a Bachelors in Advertising B.A. and continued his studies with a Bachelors in Product Design at the IED in Barcelona. Ricardo’s lifelong interests lie in working with natural materials and simplistic forms while incorporating methods of artisanal craftsmanship and approach towards digital fabrication techniques. His selected workshop participation ranges from the Norman Foster Foundation Robotics Atelier, (CBI) Challenge Based Innovation program in CERN (Geneva), and the AA visiting school in Osaka, focusing on integrating traditional craftsmanship in Japanese joinery and digital fabrication.
