3dPA Forest Campus Receives Honorable Mention at The MARCH Awards 2026
IAAC is pleased to announce that 3dPA Forest Campus, developed by the Robotics Lab in collaboration with Hassell Studio, has received an Honorable Mention in the Small New-Built Category at The MARCH Awards 2026.
Built from the soil of Collserola Natural Park in Barcelona, 3dPA Forest Campus forms a living laboratory for low-carbon construction, circular material cycles, and new architectural possibilities. Its fragmented floorplan rejects standardised typologies, generating a constellation of rooms, corners, and varied spatial conditions, where wall sections were printed, dismantled, and reprinted into new configurations, demonstrating a circular approach where architecture can reorganise itself without waste.
The jury recognised 3dPA Forest Campus as a strong example of how a small prototype can make a systemic contribution, noting that the project proves “low-carbon need not mean spatially poor.” Its layered earthen walls create a tactile and expressive envelope while supporting thermal mass, natural humidity regulation, and integrated services.
Through its textured surfaces, experimental microclimates, and visible construction process, the jury described it as a compelling prototype for how local earth and digital craft can reshape the future of building, even at the smallest scale.
Previously awarded by the New European Bauhaus, 3dPA Forest Campus demonstrates how architecture can be materially honest, low-carbon, and spatially ambitious, positioning 3D-printed earth as a viable pathway for future housing rooted in locality and circularity.
