R.E.S.P.I.R.A. is one of the winning projects of the Ciutat Proactiva call, from the Bit-Habitat Foundation, jointly developed by Noumena, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), the Association of Neighbors and Residents of Poblenou and the Platform of Roquetes Entities.

Urban elements will be co-designed with the citizens to provide answers to the new challenges faced in the public space: new pedestrian spaces and Superillas, post-pandemic requirements and telework, inclusivity and gender perspective, heat waves and climate shelters.
Urban elements will be designed and then 3d printed with Pure.Tech, a material that absorbs and neutralizes CO2, NOx compounds and VOCs, improving air quality.
The R.E.S.P.I.R.A. Kick-off meeting will be organized on March 7th from 18.00 to 20.00 at IAAC, and will be focused around the following topics:
Public Space and Co-Design

Introduction by Areti Markopoulou (IAAC Academic Director) and presentations and round table with the following experts: Poblenou Neighbors Association, Platform of Roquetes Entities, Mayorga + Fontana Arquitectos, Urbidermis (Santa & Cole) and Chiara Farinea (AAG Head of European Projects at IAAC).
Air Quality and New Materials
From 19.00 to 20.00 (CET) – Session in English
Michael Donaldson (Comisionado de Innovación Digital, Administración Electrónica y Buen Gobierno) from Fundació BIT Habitat will introduce the Ciutat Proactiva program and Aldo Sollazzo (Noumena) will present architectural, public, and urban spaces solutions with a lower environmental impact using catalytic technology PURE.TECH.
During the first session “Public Space and Co-Design”, relevant experts and neighborhood associations with participation practices, will present their experiences. Their presentation will be followed by a promoting round table an open debate with the attendees.
During the second session “Air Quality and New Materials” Michael Donaldson, from Bit-Habitat Foundation will present the program Ciutat Proactiva, and Aldo Sollazzo will present the design/material urban purification furniture and the RESPIRA project, focusing on Materials, Manufacturing and Design.
