Nader Tehrani

Architect and Director of MIT School of Architecture, Boston

Nader Tehrani is the Principal and Founder of NADAAA, a practice focused on design innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. As a Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at MIT, he has made significant contributions to the field. Previously a founding principal of Office dA, Tehrani’s work has garnered prestigious awards, including the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Architecture, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, and the United States Artists Architecture and Design Award.

Tehrani has led various notable projects, such as the Tongxian Art Gatehouse in Beijing, the Fleet Library at RISD, Banq restaurant in Boston, Helios House in Los Angeles, and the LEED-Gold certified Macallen Building. Recently, he completed the Hinman Research Building at Georgia Tech. He earned a B.F.A. and a B.Arch from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1985 and 1986, respectively, and an M.A.U.D from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1991.

Additionally, Tehrani has taught at Northeastern University, RISD, and Harvard, holding fellowships at institutions like Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Toronto. His commitment to advancing architectural education and practice continues to influence the next generation of architects.
