Research Technician for Environmental, Ecology, and Design Projects

We are looking for a professional to investigate and develop environmental, ecology, and design projects with experience in the forestry and wood sector. The project to be developed will promote the transformative potential of forest management for the sustainable production of high-value wood and the promotion of the bioeconomy in the construction sector. It will be developed in Galicia and Catalonia, where various tree species present in natural timber forests with exploitation possibilities will be analyzed. These woods will be the subject of study through innovative experimental prototypes for construction, considering physical-mechanical aspects, durability, and technical behavior. The impact achieved will be evaluated, and recommendations and analyses of the proposal’s potential in different territories will be made. Throughout the project, workshops and training courses, a documentary, and a traveling exhibition will be conducted.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and development of projects promoted by organizations such as Fundación
  • Biodiversidad / EIT Urban Mobility / Community New European Bauhaus / Horizon
  • Europe New European Bauhaus Academy (NEBA) Alliance, etc., including maintaining contacts with partners.
  • Analysis and evaluation of forest management.
  • Transformation of wood.
  • Analysis and experimentation with materials.
  • Conducting workshops and training courses.
  • Support in the development of exhibitions and publications.
  • Representing the organization before entities, collaborators, and administrations.
  • Searching for public and private calls to carry out innovative projects.

Requirements:

  • Research Field: Architecture, engineering, design, environment, biodiversity
  • Educational Level: Master’s degree or equivalent

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Spanish; other languages will be valued.
  • Degree in a relevant field (engineering, architecture, design, environmental sciences, social sciences, etc.). Other fields may be considered depending on the candidate’s profile.
  • Self-motivated and capable of making decisions.
  • Experience in managing projects funded by state agencies, EU.
  • Experience in report writing and content generation.
  • Experience in organizing events and project activities.
  • Experience in developing proposals.
  • Proficiency with information and images.

Specific Requirements:

  • EU national or with a work permit for Spain.
  • Languages: Spanish / Level: Excellent
  • Research field: Engineering, architecture, design, environment, biodiversity
  • Years of research experience: 4 – 8

Additional Information:
Temporary contract from November 2024 to December 2025, with the possibility of remaining in the company after the project ends.
Full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based in Barcelona.
