[ENG] Daniel Ibáñez has been appointed general director of IAAC by the Board of Trustees of the Foundation. In addition, Ana Vallés and Andreu Mas-Colell have been appointed president and vice-president of IAAC, respectively. Areti Markopoulou continues as academic director of IAAC.
The IAAC Board of Trustees has elected architect Daniel Ibáñez as general director of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. Likewise, the businesswoman Ana Vallés, president of Sorigué, and the economist Andreu Mas-Colell, who were already patrons of the Foundation, have been elected president and vice-president respectively.
Daniel Ibáñez will be accompanied by Areti Markopoulou as academic director and an extensive team of national and international experts from multiple disciplines.
The new general director holds a PhD in Design from Harvard University, and is the author of numerous publications and one of the world’s leading experts in wood construction.
After years of working on the ecological and digital transition of cities, IAAC and its new management are committed to the growth and consolidation of the institution in the local, national and international context. Some of the strategic lines that the new management wants to promote include the linking of its academic programs with industry, the commitment to end-to-end design, material and environmental traceability betting on the circularity of all processes, the reinforcement of the learning by (digital) making and living method, and consolidate the leadership on green and zero-emission architecture and urbanism in the context of current European policies.
One of the key objectives will be the project for a new headquarters for the city campus that will allow the IAAC to accommodate the sustained growth it has been developing in recent years.

El patronato del IAAC ha elegido al arquitecto Daniel Ibáñez como director general del Instituto de Arquitectura Avanzada de Cataluña. Asimismo, la empresaria Ana Vallés, presidenta de Sorigué, y el economista Andreu Mas-Colell que ya eran patrones de la Fundación, han estado elegidos presidenta y vicepresidente respectivamente.
En esta nueva dirección, acompañarán a Daniel Ibáñez, Areti Markopoulou como directora académica y un extenso equipo de expertos nacionales e internacionales de múltiples disciplinas.
El nuevo director, el arquitecto Daniel Ibáñez (Madrid, 1981), es doctor en Diseño por la Universidad de Harvard, autor de numeras publicaciones y uno de los expertos mundiales en construcción en madera.
Después de años trabajando en la transición ecológica y digital de las ciudades, el IAAC y su nueva dirección apuestan por el crecimiento y la consolidación de la institución en el contexto local, nacional e internacional. Algunas de las líneas estratégicas que quiere impulsar la nueva dirección comprenden la vinculación de sus programas académicos con la industria, la apuesta por el diseño end-to-end, la trazabilidad material y ambiental apostando por la circularidad de todos los procesos, el refuerzo del método learning by (digital) making and living, y consolidar el liderazgo sobre arquitectura y urbanismo ecológico y de cero emisiones en el contexto de las políticas europeas actuales.
Uno de los objetivos clave será el proyecto de una nueva sede para el campus de la ciudad que permita al IAAC albergar el crecimiento sostenido que está desarrollando en los últimos años.
