Manja van de Worp is a trained Architect and Structural Engineer, exploring synergies between structural design, architecture, geometry and fabrication.
She followed her dual master degree from TUE in the Netherlands with a postgraduate at the Architectural Association in Emergent Technology and Design in London. From 2007 she has worked for Arup in the Advanced Geometry Unit, lead by Cecil Balmond, designing complex structural geometrical projects and ARUP ATR, designing retractable facade and Manta glass greenhouse with Heatherwick studio.
Her specialist expertise lies in the translation of an idea into a working structural design, relating fabrication, materiality and geometry. Manja holds a permanent teaching position at the Architectural Association in London where she teaches technical design and has a Technology and Architecture diploma course.
She also assisted with unit 19 at the Bartlett with DR.
As well as that Manja teaches various workshops to architecture students, engineers and fashion designers and privately collaborates with architects and designers as Lily Jencks and Studio Roso and is part of NOUS Collaborative.
