Celebrating Inclusive Perspectives: IAAC Marks International Women’s Day
On March 11th, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) hosted a meaningful gathering in celebration of International Women’s Day.
IAAC is committed to supporting gender equality and fostering an inclusive environment within its community. This year’s event embraced a broad and intersectional perspective, bringing together participants of all gender identities. Rather than focusing exclusively on women, the initiative encouraged collective engagement, recognizing that meaningful change emerges through shared responsibility, mutual understanding, and solidarity across diverse voices.
The event created a space for open reflection on feminism today: where we stand, the progress made, and the challenges that remain. Through conversation and exchange, participants explored how feminist perspectives continue to shape architecture and urban practices, while also questioning how institutions and individuals can contribute to more equitable futures.
A central moment of the gathering was a collaborative collage activity. This hands-on exercise invited participants to visually express ideas, experiences, and aspirations related to gender, space, and identity. The process fostered creativity and dialogue, allowing different viewpoints to emerge organically and collectively.
