Tapiwa Manase Postgraduate in 3D Printing for Architecture, 2021 Zimbabwe
IAAC Barcelona

Tapiwa Manase, Junior Architect. Tapiwa completed her studies in 3D Printing Architecture at IAAC and is currently establishing her studio, ShiriYame, in Austria, where she collaborates with other architects. Her work includes interior design and she is working on producing printed and handmade clay pieces. Tapiwa is also part of the collective Matri-Archi(tecture).

Hazal Yilmaz Master in Robotics & Advanced Construction, One-Year Programme, 2019 Turkey

Hazal Yilmaz is a designer, focusing on the generative process of computational innovation through robotic fabrication. She holds a master’s degree in Robotics and Advanced Construction in IaaC and currently working as a researcher specialized in Robotic AM at La Máquina.

Anna Batallé Master in Robotics & Advanced Construction, One-Year Programme, 2020 Spain

Anna Batallé, Researcher – PhD Candidate. Anna is a researcher at TU Delft’s Department of Management in the Built Environment. Her research focuses on enabling circular practices in the construction sector through digitalization. Her work explores information requirements for facade material passports to support decisions on reusing, remanufacturing, and recycling building components. Anna holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in architecture and a Master’s in Robotics and Advanced Construction from IAAC. She has previously worked for Ceràmica Cumella experimenting with robotic fabrication applied to tailored ceramics manufacturing, and at Eurecat on European Union’s Horizon 2020 projects related to new construction technologies for building stock decarbonization.

Júlia Veiga Master in City & Technology, One-Year Programme (now Master in Advanced Urban Planning & Data Analytics), 2022 Portugal

Júlia Veiga, Architect. Júlia is a portuguese architect with a master degree in Architecture from FAUL – Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon. Immediately after, she enrolled at IAAC and attended the MaCT course (Master in City & Technology). She has work experience in Portugal, Italy and Spain in local and international projects. She is based in Barcelona where she worked for Arquitectura-G and External Reference after graduating from IAAC.

Alex Mademochoritis Master in City & Technology (now Master in Advanced Urban Planning & Data Analytics), 2017 Greece
IAAC Barcelona

Alex is a doctoral researcher at LATTS, where he joined in November 2023 as part of the CLEAR-Doc program (MSCA-COFUND). His PhD focuses on the socio-technical materiality of heat in the context of climate adaptation, with a particular emphasis on urban heat adaptation in Paris. His research examines how heat is understood, measured, and managed through infrastructures, policies, and social practices, exploring its implications for climate urbanism, thermal comfort, and environmental justice.

Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture and design from the University of Western Attica in Athens and a Master’s in City & Technology from IAAC. Before his PhD, he spent seven years at IAAC, working in academic coordination and admissions management while also engaging in research and teaching within the Advanced Architecture Lab (AAL).

Beyond academia, he hosts The Masterplan podcast, where he explores topics related to cities, culture, and technology.

Erina Filipovska Master in Advanced Architecture, One-Year Programme, 2011 Macedonia
IAAC Barcelona

Erina is a distinguished architect, designer, and researcher with expertise in computational design, digital fabrication, responsive environments, and the exploration of emerging territories. She employs a digital-driven approach to design, developing innovative urban and architectural projects that aim to positively influence both the built environment and the communities they serve.

Erina has played an integral role as part of the national team dedicated to integrating climate change considerations into spatial planning. Her work includes promoting innovative solutions, driving the digitalization of planning processes, and contributing to the development of a GIS platform focused on climate change within spatial planning frameworks.

In addition to her work in climate change adaptation, Erina has organized both regional and international workshops, advocating for sustainable development, smart cities, and the integration of digital fabrication and parametric design into architectural practice. She has collaborated with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the Faculty of Architecture, the City of Skopje, and multiple NGOs on numerous impactful projects.

Hunia Tomoum Master in Advanced Architecture, One-Year Programme, 2012 Egypt
IAAC Barcelona

Hunia Tarek Tomoum is a Tutor at AAST (Arab Academy for Science and Technology) in Sheraton, Cairo, Egypt, Researcher at RAM (Research in Architectural Media) lab at AAST, and Design Partner at EA-Design. Her Evolo Skyscraper Competition entry year 2010 was published in Evolo Book 2011 (USA) as one of the best 300+ projects out of 4000 from 2006 to 2011.

Martín Gómez Master in Advanced Architecture, One-Year Programme, 2021 Chile
IAAC Barcelona

Since 2022, Martín has worked as a teacher at Universidad Diego Portales and Universidad del Desarrollo in courses related to material systems and digital fabrication. He currently works as an independent architect on projects ranging from art to architecture.

Dana is an architect with a Master’s in Advanced Architecture from IAAC and an undergraduate degree from LAU. She has professional experience in Beirut, Riyadh, and Barcelona, and continuously seeks opportunities to expand her skills. Yerwant Megurditchian Master in Advanced Architecture, Two-Year Programme, 2023 USA
IAAC Barcelona

Yerwant is an architect with a diverse background in practice and education. He completed his architectural studies with a Master’s degree from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) and a Postgraduate Master’s degree from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). With over a decade of professional experience, Yerwant has contributed to a variety of projects across the globe, notably in the Middle East, the United States, and Europe. His work encompasses a wide range of sectors, including residential, cultural, hospitality, and commercial, as well as smaller scale artistic, experiential and object-oriented design projects.

Additionally, Yerwant has collaborated with External Reference Architecture Bureau, the Advanced Architecture Group at IAAC and the likes, focusing on Data-Driven Algorithmic Design, Design-to-Production workflows, Digital Fabrication, Environmental Optimization, and Generative AI, emphasizing sustainable practices and nature-based design solutions. Currently, Yerwant runs his own cross-disciplinary design practice ‘Atopos’, blurring the boundaries and exploring the spaces where disciplines intersect, bridging architecture, art, technology and ecology.

Ocean Jangda Master in City & Technology, One-Year Programme (now Master in Advanced Urban Planning & Data Analytics), 2020 USA
IAAC Barcelona

Ocean works at the intersection of real estate development, urban technology, and business strategy. He focuses on innovation in the built environment by connecting ideas across disciplines and markets. He holds a Bachelor of Science from RIT, a Master of City & Technology from IAAC, and a Master of Science in Real Estate development from MIT.

Vicky Simitopoulou Master in Design for Emergent Futures, One-Year Programme, 2019 Greece
IAAC Barcelona

Vicky is a Futures Scenarios & Strategies Designer with a background in architectural engineering (DUTh) and a Master in Design for Emergent Futures (IAAC). She combines architecture with sociology, psychology, and politics, has worked with FabLab Barcelona, and has been active in academia since 2014, presenting at international conferences. An award-winning designer, she currently works with Ploes on EU-funded projects, focusing on strategic planning and storytelling for inclusive, sustainable futures.

Ryota Kamio Master in Design for Emergent Futures, One-Year Programme, 2019 Japan
IAAC Barcelona

Ryota is a Japanese urbanist and a designer, specializing in circular design and its implication for the futures of cities and rural areas. He’s a founding member of Satsuma Future Commons, where he’s taking a leading role in starting programs such as Bambooful Regenerative Architecture and RE:STORE civic innovation lab. He co-funded Circular Design Praxis, where he supports academia-industry collaboration in circular design theories and practices, particularly in Asia-Pacific region and hosts annual conference, Circular Design Week (in Kagoshima, 2023 and in Taiwan, 2024). Also, he’s been serving as expert lecturer at Kyoto University’s Open Technology Innovation Course and Integrated Designpreneurship Capstone Research at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design.

Joaquin Rosas Sotomayor Master in Design for Emergent Futures, One-Year Programme, 2022 Chile

Founder of MOVING.WORKS, a distributed design collective. Designer graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Teacher at the Design Lab UAI, with teaching experience at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile and at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Studies of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Specialized in the development of high social impact projects through the use of new technologies, Materials Manufacturing, Digital fabrication, Robotics, Sustainable Methods and Circular Economy. He has been part of different multidisciplinary teams at FabLab Santiago and FabLab Universidad de Chile, where he served as coordinator of projects and professional ventures. He has given multiple advanced workshops on digital fabrication, Biofabrication, Design and technology. He has participated and led in various Fondarts (Chilean grants) working on research projects in design and material development.

Amanda is an Associate Practice Technology Leader at HED, specializing in computational design and the strategic implementation of BIM and innovative technologies across Workplace, Housing, and Mixed-Use projects. A licensed architect with experience in Canada and the USA, she is passionate about integrating machine learning and generative design into architectural workflows. An experienced leader, mentor, and educator, Amanda is also a frequent speaker in the field of computational design.

James McBennett Master in Advanced Computation for Architecture & Design, 2023 Ireland
IAAC Barcelona

ames is a computational designer teaching in the MaCAD program at IAAC, where he earned his masters in 2023. He has taught workshops and courses at the University of North Texas, the University of Calgary, Oxford Brookes University, and IAAC’s Global Summer School, and gained experience at KPF, JDS, and OMA. He is originally from Dublin, spent time in Riyadh, and now resides in Texas.

Ayman ElNashar Master in Advanced Computation for Architecture & Design, 2024 Italy

LEED-accredited design leader, named one of the Commercial Interior design Magazine’s top 50 Power List of most influential interior designers in MENA, bringing international leadership experience in delivering turnkey design solutions across high-end Residential, Commercial and Mixed-use projects. Currently Senior Interior Design Manager with Diriyah company, a development company overseeing the 63$ billions Diriyah Gate Masterplan, one of Saudi Arabia’s key Giga-projects under the Public Investment Fund – PIF.
