Visions from the Jury
The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is pleased to host Barcelona 2051: City Futures for a Warming Planet – Visions from the Jury, a webinar bringing together members of the international jury of the 11th Advanced Architecture Contest.
This session offers a unique opportunity to hear first-hand perspectives on the near future of architecture and cities from internationally recognised architects and thinkers connecting from Europe, Australia and the Americas. Through shared experiences, references and built work, the speakers will reflect on how architecture, technology and ecology can respond to the challenges of a warming planet.
The webinar is part of the 11th Advanced Architecture Contest, organised by IAAC as part of the official programme of Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026.
Under the theme “Barcelona 2051: City Futures for a Warming Planet”, the competition invites participants from around the world to explore how architecture and urban thinking can shape more resilient, inclusive and sustainable futures. Proposals may address any scale or discipline —architecture, urbanism, landscape, interaction or related fields— and may be set in Barcelona or in any other city worldwide, engaging with cultural, environmental, economic and social challenges.
Each winner of the competition will receive a monetary award together with a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s programme at IAAC during the 2026–27 academic year.
