What will be presented?
Students from the Digital Matter Studio—part of the Master in Advanced Architecture Year 1—will present their final projects: material-driven architectural proposals designed to rethink the resource logic of the built environment.
In a time when human-made materials outweigh all living biomass, and the construction sector accelerates ecological degradation, this studio proposes a radical shift—from extraction to regeneration.
Throughout the semester, students have explored:

the reuse of materials through urban mining and upcycling,

computational tools to monitor embodied carbon and build digital material libraries,

and architectural systems that adapt, decompose, or digest waste—prototyping a metabolic architecture.
The presentations will feature speculative strategies grounded in real-world material flows and supported by industrial partnerships. These proposals call for a circular carbon economy, where buildings are no longer inert structures but active agents in environmental regeneration.
