IAAC – Advanced Architecture Barcelona welcomes Benjamin Iborra, Co-Founder and Partner at Mesura, for a new session within the IAAC Lecture Series 2025/26.
Titled Encounters with Neoartisans, the lecture will take place on Thursday, February 26 at 19:00 at IAAC in Barcelona and will be open to students, alumni and invited guests.
Encounters with Neoartisans
In this lecture, Benjamin Iborra will reflect on how a new generation of architects and builders is redefining the relationship between craft, material intelligence and architectural production.
Emerging within a context shaped by economic crisis and environmental urgency, this generation has developed a renewed sensitivity toward material responsibility, resourcefulness and collaborative modes of construction. Rather than separating tradition and innovation, these “neoartisans” operate at their intersection — combining technical precision with cultural awareness.
Through selected projects from Mesura, the session will examine how contemporary practice is shifting from expansion-driven models toward more conscious and context-driven ways of building. Construction logic, local knowledge and material systems become central tools in redefining architectural agency.
