SOLAR GREENHOUSE

The students of the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities are finishing the Solar Greenhouse this summer. The objective is to build a prototype of a small greenhouse that can be installed both in rural areas and on roofs of urban building spaces. The structure has been manufactured using local wood from the Valldaura forests and includes CLT (cross laminated timber) and GLT (Glue laminated timber) panels for columns and beams.

The diamond-shaped roof, facing south, includes glass that allows you to partially or completely leave it open to sunlight. All the interiors will be finished using the latest technology of controlled feeding of nutrients to the plants. The ground floor will be used as a seedbed and plants laboratory, the upper part to grow plants in height, using three different technologies.

On September 2, the MAEBB students will present the prototype. Learn more about the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities (MAEBB).
