Three projects developed by the Urban Data Analysis studio 300,000 Km/s of Master in City and Technology (MaCT) faculty members Mar Santamaría and Pablo Martínez, have been recognized by the XIV Edition of the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism.

In this edition, the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism emphasized the idea of living as the foundation of architecture and the humanization of the city. This is a recognition from the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures, in collaboration with the Higher Council of Architects of Spain and the Arquia Foundation, for the best architectural, urban planning and research works of the last two years in Spain.

  • The Historical Charter of Barcelona, which consists of the narration of the history of the city of Barcelona through 26 cartographies that reflect the most singular moments of its urban history, has been awarded in the Research Exhibition. The project has been conceived by the Museum of History of Barcelona (MUHBA) under the scientific direction of Joan Roca and the supervision of Manuel Guàrdia and Ramon Pujades.

  • The Atlas of Tourism, curated by Ariadna Cantis, has also been recognized as a finalist in the same category of the Exhibition. This is an event held in October 2017 at the Casa Encendida in Madrid, in which experts and citizens participated, to approach the impact of tourism in Madrid and gentrification from tourist rentals.

  • Finally, the Plan of Uses of Ciutat Vella district promoted by the Barcelona City Council has been finalist in the Works Panorama call. The new regulation of public uses, food shops, tourist services and other activities calls for the role of town planning as an instrument to put the city before the free market as a common good.

On behalf of all IAAC family we want to send our most sincere congratulations to Mar and Pablo for this well-deserved recognition, and above all, for contributing to innovation in the field of new urbanism!
