IAAC ADMISSIONS COORDINATOR

 

THE INSTITUTE – The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia – IAAC is an international centre for Education, Fabrication and Research dedicated to the development of architecture capable of meeting the worldwide challenges in constructing 21st century habitability.

Based in the 22@ district of Barcelona, one of the world’s capitals of architecture and urbanism, IAAC is a platform for the exchange of knowledge with researchers, faculty and students from over 60 countries around the world.

IAAC is currently looking for an Admissions Coordinator, which will serve as the primary point of contact for admissions office and activities at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the initial contact person for the admissions office in person, telephone, and mail;
  • Analyzes the needs for each individual and follows through accordingly answering questions, providing appropriate forms, or providing a referral to the appropriate person or department;
  • Updates and maintains bulletin boards and brochure racks;
  • Develops and fosters relationships with students and parents through on campus recruiting activities and events;
  • Takes walk-in and scheduled admissions appointments, including Skype meetings, with new students to help them get started at the Institute;
  • Assists with general advising of new students and discusses programs with prospective students, helping them in finding the most suitable program for their profile;
  • Maintains general knowledge of the Institute’s activities, programs and requirements;
  • Advises and conducts tours for prospective students;
  • Assists with direct mail, telephone and email follow-up with student prospects and applicants;
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops to stay updated on issues relating to admissions;
  • Works closely with the Institute’s personnel, the Academic Coordinators and the Admission Committee so as to ably communicate programs, admissions requirements, financial assistance, and other essential information to interested parties;
  • Performs other related tasks as required.

ATTENDANCE – Individuals in this position are expected to be available during the normal business hours of the Institute, and occasionally evenings and weekends for special presentations and events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High proficiency in oral and written English is a must (official language of the educational programs), Spanish is a plus;
  • One to three years of experience in a customer-focused role, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position;
  • Proficiency in word processing and ability to learn and use a variety of personal computer software;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and positively with prospective students, parents, staff, administration, and other individuals in either individual or group settings.

SALARY RANGE – Annual gross income 20K € plus on-target earnings.

HOURS – Full time, 40 hours a week (Monday to Friday, daily from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00).
