Future Jobs will not be applied for, they will be made! Applications are now open for the Fab Academy, the intensive six-month learning programme directed by Neil Gershenfeld from MIT's Center For Bits and Atoms, taught at Fab Lab Barcelona.

Massimiliano Fuksas' Opening of IAAC Lecture Series 2018/19

IAAC Lecture Series 2018/19 was inaugurated last October 11th by the lecture of the internationally renowned Italian Architect Massimiliano Fuksas.

Areti Markopoulou, celebrating the beginning of the Academic Year, kicked off the event that saw the participation of Actar Publishers Director Ramon Prat, and IAAC Alumni Daniele Fiore and Jayant Khanuja, currently working at Studio Fuksas in Rome.

MaCT Approaching New Urban Design for Barcelona's Ring Roads

Last weekend our Master in City & Technology (MaCT) students participated in the Hackathon "Descobrir Les Rondes", an initiative that brought together 500 architecture students with the aim of proposing a new urban design for Barcelona's ring roads. 

Students aim to imagine how "Les Rondes" will look like in the future as well as propose improvements in the field of architecture, urban mobility and environmental impact.

MDEF Students Designing for the Real Digital World with Ingi Guðjónsson

The Master in Design for Emergent Futures (MDEF) students recently presented the results of the Design for the Real Digital World seminar led by Ingi Guðjónsson.

Possibilities of digital and local manufacturing have been explored this time trough “hacking” abandoned objects from the streets of Poblenou, and learning how to mix the old with the new in relation to tooling, techniques and material resources.

Don't Miss MIRA Festival Artist Kyle McDonald's Workshop at IAAC!

Under the framework of the MIRA Digital Arts Festival, on the 6th and 7th of November IAAC will be offering a Workshop on Computer Vision and Machine Learning for Interactive Art, led by the expert Kyle McDonald.

Kyle McDonald is an artist creating 
immersive audiovisual installations by using techniques from computer vision, machine learning and computing to create unusual experiences. Check the link and apply for the workshop!

MAA Alumni Story: Farshad Mehdizadeh

IAAC is glad to present the #AlumniStory of the Iranian architect Farshad Mehdizadeh. In 2012 Farshad obtained a Master in Advanced Architecture (MAA) degree at IAAC, after which he returned to Iran and set up his own firm. In 2017 he was awarded as Architect of the Year in the 10th Middle East Architect Awards, which recognizes the best projects in the architecture community across the Middle East.

Jon Tugores' Lecture in Valldaura

With buildings designed in Barcelona, Bahrain, Japan and Dallas, Jon Tugores is a Barcelona based architect that shares a genuine passion of the ‘tempo’ of big urban cities and the fragrance of the slower village attitude. Perfectly fitting into the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings (MAEB) framework, Jon has been recently lecturing in the Valldaura Self Sufficient Labs where MAEB students could learn more about his practice and projects.

IAAC and 2A Magazine are glad to invite you to the 2A Continental Architectural Awards for Asia and Europe (2ACAA) Interaction Forum and Award Ceremony, being held in Barcelona today, October 26th. The 2A Magazine Awards, this year under the theme of Innovative Contextual Design, aim to recognize and praise substantial contributions to today’s architecture celebrating the diversity of cultures, identities, themes, ideas and experiences.

MRAC Challenging the Wood Industry

Yesterday Master in Robotic and Advanced Construction (MRAC) students could visit three companies working in the wood sector: TallFusta, wood manufacturing for architecture and roof structures, Serradora Boix, the biggest sawing industry in Catalonia, and Incafust, the Catalan Institute of Wood, promoting innovation in the wood sector.
