The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and the IAAC Urban Sciences Lab are pleased to announce the opening of the new Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Sciences [BDUS] *, offering comprehensive education and training delivered by three prestigious institutions: the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia [IAAC], Pompeu Fabra University [UPF] and ECSI-UPF. * (Pending Ministry approval).
The BDUS will form polyvalent graduates with a comprehensive understanding of urban sciences, defined as the conglomerate of disciplines with an integral approach to solve the urgent and complex problems affecting our cities. These disciplines are engaged in formulating new models, tools and methodologies to train the professionals of the future cities in the areas of Habitat, Technology, Economy, Society, and Ecology.
The three-year full time degree program with 180 ETCS offers an integral and interdisciplinary education that is tailored to meet specific interests, abilities and knowledge of each student, with specialization through elective subjects. The curriculum also includes the possibility of doing company internships in distinguished public, private and professional offices.
The program is delivered by renowned professionals in several disciplines related to urban sciences.
The course content is delivered through “learning by doing“, an innovative methodology of applied knowledge, where students develop their skills based on the latest technologies. This stimulating immersive education is based on models of cooperative learning, flipped classrooms, and skill-based programs.
This BDUS will train professionals that will become the future leaders of cities, providing graduates with the necessary skills to develop diverse careers paths ranging from local, regional, national and even international organizations; to initiate their own entrepreneurial initiatives; or even specializing via master or postgraduate programs.
