The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and Autodesk announce their collaboration in establishing Research Residency Positions in Boston and Barcelona.

Four Research Residency Positions, opened to IAAC Alumni, as well as professionals and researchers, and focused on Additive Manufacturing, Robotic Fabrication and Advanced Interaction have been announced today by IAAC and Autodesk.

The four Research Residencies, to be partially developed at Autodesk BUILD Space in Boston and IAAC premises in Barcelona, will start on January 2017.

The duration of the Residency Research period at Autodesk BUILD in Boston will be from three to six months, with the possibility of extension, based on the results of the research project.

The Boston residency package will include:

  • Working Space and Access to Fabrication Facilities and Training while the Research Resident is at the Autodesk BUILD Space;
  • Access to Autodesk Software, relevant to the project undertaken by the Research Resident.

The duration of the Residency Research stage at IAAC in Barcelona will be from one to three weeks with the possibility of extension, based on the results and requirements of the research project.

The Barcelona residency package will include:

  • Research Advising along the whole period of Residency Research Stage in Boston and Barcelona;
  • Technical support along the period of Residency Research Stage;
  • Working Space and Access to Fabrication Facilities and Training while the Research Resident is at IAAC.

Research Residency Positions do not include funding or compensation.

  4. Relevant publications by applicant (A4 format, should not exceed 1 page)
  5. White Paper proposal for the Research Residency Position (A4 format, should not exceed 5 pages), including:
  • state of the art
  • hypothesis
  • objectives & expected results
  • methodology
  • proposed workplan
  • initial bibliography
